The Rotary Club of South Sacramento was chartered on May 23, 1959. The club began with 24 members, under the leadership of club President, Ardell Tiedman. In subsequent years, the club changed meeting locations as club membership enrollment expanded and/or contracted. Our club now meets at the Casa Garden Restaurant on Sutterville Road (just west of HWY 99).

Our long history of service to the greater Sacramento community and worldwide projects continues today. Some of our local, "hands on" efforts include:
  • Maintaining the Rotary House in Oak Park, in a partnership with other Rotary clubs
  • Helping disadvantaged youth through the distribution of free dictionaries to third graders
  • Sponsoring high school students to attend the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) summer camp
  • Serving meals and sorting donated goods at St. John's Shelter for Women & Children
  • Participating in the annual "Paint the Town" - a neighborhood beautification project in disadvataged areas of our city
  • Holding our annual Crab Feed & Silent Auction with all proceeds going to selected local community organizations and charities
International projects have included distributing wheelchairs to the disabled population in other countries, as well as partnering with other Rotary Clubs to conduct clean water projects and providing dental services to those in need.
