Every spring, the Rotary Club of South Sacramento (RCSS) and its Foundation (RCSSF) solicits applications from Sacramento area charities for grants. This year‘s request for applications
(RFA) resulted in 26 worthy non-profit organizations receiving grants totaling $42,500!
Representatives from these NGOs will receive checks on May 23 at an awards luncheon.
These awards are in an addition to other charitable giving by the Club and Foundation enabled
by our annual Crab Feed of $14,772 to support the Children’s Receiving Home and Luther
Burbank High School sports programs.
Other educational grants including, RYLA, dictionaries and sports equipment for elementary
schools, and tuition scholarships for community college and high school students reached
$15,188.
Finally, the Club and Foundation also contributed $3,300 to the Maui Fire Fund, made special
holiday grants, and committed funds to the Uganda WASH Project.
As of May 01, 2024 total giving has reached $73,975 and breaks out as follows:
$51,887 for 26 registered charities serving the Sacramento area.
$3,600 for grants awards to international relief and development organizations.
$15,188 for grants to educational institutions in our area including: community college and high
school scholarships; dictionaries and sports equipment for several elementary schools; “Student
of the Month” awards; and RYLA.
$3,300 for a special grant provided to the Maui Fire Recovery Program.

All of this charitable grant making is in addition to the generous personal giving our Club
members make to Rotary International. And the year is not over yet!
